because there is no reason why they need a phone. At home you can do everything you want from a computer
in person you can do it in person
but what are you protecting them from Pika?
that's what I don't get
a phone is way, way cheaper than a home pc/tablet
nothing. I do not believe you need to give children access to a lot of things
and it has the added benefit of letting you give your kid independence
despite those things not being harmful
I have this same discussion with parents who won't leave their kids home alone unsupervised
like, I get that for todlers
I just don't see how it is insane to not give a phone to a kid who has not asked for one
but how retarded is your kid if you're worried about leaving a 6th grader home alone
if they express a distinct interest its different
I don't know how overbearing your mom is, but if they're literally never alone and would need to be reachable by phone, then that's a major reason they might not need one
they can probably interface with calssmates without too much trouble via apps on their tablet
but I think a phone is a better solution imo for that
My brother does not like leaving the house, he's basically a neet for minecraft. My sister talks to her friends via her laptop
Also spooky tbh
I am more overbearing then my mom is
yup, welcome daddy xbrox
I am far more overprotective (not only of my siblings but I get the itch to tell other children to stop doing dangerous shit too)
I am very cautious by nature
oh yeah mint does not know lore
mint, for your list of lore
I am the server mom
xbrox is the server dad
here's a different question Pika
how old would a kid have to be that you'd be comfortable giving them a house key?
not a question of age, a question of do they leave the house
I've had a house key since I started walking to school in like grade 5
implies that they at some point will be the first one home in the afternoon
neither parent are garenteed to be around
maybe my perspective is skewed because my mom does not work
my dads income is enough for our family
11 is the perfect age
I got a house key in 1st grade, though not immediately
gradual thing
I also spent my younger years in an apartment and it was not really in the kind of place where I would walk to my friends house from
yeah that just seems logical
yup, that was me
its not really an age thing
we had short days on monday in elementary school
so I'd walk home at like 1:30 with my key on some strap in my backpack
okay rural boy
calm down
this is a city folk talk
