Silver is interesting to talk about. He's widely beloved, but gosh he's just a whiny baby. All he does is complain to you about bad you are and then lose to you.

I do like that he has a bit of character development as he realizes that, huh, since he literally loses to you every time, maybe you are right, but still.

Despite losing to you every time, Blue still does it right. He's ahead of you, he's already beaten the gyms, and he feels like he's better than you even while losing.

All of red's canon team members are donated to him, and except for espeon (which isn't in HGSS) they only are level up evolutions

There's only one thing about Nemona that I wish they did better, and that's her final fight. Like, she's been going alongside you on your journey raising a new team, and that's cool and all, but when she fights you at the end, she should fight you with her "real" team.

I understand why they didn't do this, but personally, I would have made ALL of her fights significantly harder. Like, you already don't need to win any of the fights to progress. I think it would be fun if she was just this random super strong fight that happened sometimes and you don't need to win, but it gets to truly challenge you when you're not ready for it.

oras improved wally a lot and i always like how he caught up and passed you in gyms while you were dealing with shit
the framing of someone who is weak, dedicating themselves to getting stronger and even passing you- then undergoing a rebirth as they mega their starter is probably one of the most cinematic rivals

Grass' only stinkers for me are 6 and 8. I usually like grass but usually pick whichever seems the most fun then do grass on a second playthrough because other than some niche exceptions they're usually rather mid

Venesaur, Sceptile/Grovyle, Torterra, Serperior, Decidueye, Meowscarda I all like. I still think snek is the best gen 5 starter because samurotts existence is stupid
