Not a lot of information about Pokemon Champions, but I think you will be able to recruit Pokemon through some kind of story or campaign mode. These Pokemon will come pre-built. Hopefully you'll be able to customize your Pokemon's build, but if that's possible, there's very little point to using the transfer feature.
So I don't think it would be a full simulator

What do you think of people that refer to Pikachu as "Pika"? I've never heard this until a year or two ago and I find it a little unsettling.
Maybe I'd understand if they are fans of the Adventures manga but I doubt that
I have never once heard anyone use Pika instead of Pikachu

That sort of combat is what everyone imagined pokemon should be when it first came out. It couldn't really be done well at the time because of the technology, but honestly they should have implemented it in like 2010

Not sure of the implications. Haven't played in a while but the game is very dated
Yeah but they felt like bloat to me. They added a lot of mechanics but never replaced anything that really needed improving

What mechanics did they add?
They added dynamax, team rocket / shadow pokemon, routes
Also if you haven't bothered with missions you will get bombarded with them
Dynamax is whatever, what do the shadow Pokémon do, and what are routes?
And the missions are more for like active players who are going to get them one at a time, so getting bombarded is not the intention when they made them
Yes but they could have changed the UI to make them more organized. If you make a new account it will also feel pretty overwhelming.
Gyms have not been changed pretty much at all when they're the only way to get coins without spending
Shadow Pokemon are very similar to how they are in Colosseum. They have a shadowy aura, know special moves, and can be purified. I don't know how good they are in battle
You need to use candies to purify them
