I like the diamond and pearl remakes more than the games that came out from that era too, even if they are by far the worst remakes

Gen 4 remakes were lazy which was their biggest sin
the previous 3 gens remakes were essentially complete reworks of the game they were remaking
gen 4 was essentially a 1 to 1 remake with a couple new things
I still think fire red and heartgold are some of the peak of pokemon
the only game that I think comes close from non remakes is original gen 3
post X/Y was the beginning of the lazy era, it just gets worse with each release
Pokemon needs to stop printing money (never happening) for them to bother impoving
They need to just faithfully remaster colosseum
that is all they need to do
that will fix everything
If switch 2 is actually coming, I imagine no game this year
then next year pokemon switch 2 launch title
Gen 3 both firered as a remake and ruby/saphire
I have not played emerald
I never got into gen 4, I only ever finished it for the first time with the remakes
I also did not play pearl
I do not play mid gen release games
no emerald, no pearl, no explorers of sky
I get the game when it comes out, I am not buying a slightly different copy of the same game
Same reason I refuse to buy mario kart 8 on switch
I own the WiiU version
Its funny because I am constantly told that emerald and pearl mog the games in their gen
I like ruby a lot despite that, so I am sure emerald is great
I think a lot of it is, GBA era sprites and game design were the peak of charming pokemon design in my eyes

Replying to legorhin #jazardly if you ever play gen 5, make sure to play BW first and do the game link thing with B2W2 so you get save transfer type stuff and unlock extra story cutscenes
