I uh, think Hollywood is just fucked
its for the best
they are releasing movies direct-to-consumer
and people still aren't watching them
Honestly, maybe disney can fucking go bankrupt
(never will happen)

not them, but some of the other studios are on the verge of being fucked
they have so much capital tied up in movies that cannot now make their money back
their numbers are still low despite that though
at least from what studios have said to investors so far
low as in below projections
Most of the release contracts weren't obscenely long or anything
but if that doesn't pick up and theatre sales don't come back
there are billions of dollars that will just not be recouped
International market aside, Hollywood hasn't been doing great for the last 5 years or so when you discount the top 10% of earners
domestically, the middle has fallen out of the movie market
you have very large budget successes, and zero budget features that turn a profit
everything else has been a lot less certain
Not that I have some hard-on for Hollywood, I'm sure they'll be fine
but I suspect there will be a few studio mergers to consolidate things
I like movies, even if most of them are shit
because the % of shit movies from them is still less than the % from Amazon/Apple/Netflix
