I don’t know what to do. I feel extra horrible that it’s out of my control. I would have studied for this exam (instead of doing essays worth nothing now) from the beginning of the course if I knew it was going to be worth 50%. I already messaged my professor but she’s well-known for being completely apathetic/not accomodating of disabilities, so it went absolutely nowhere in the short email response she sent me. To make things worse, I feel that I can’t study as I normally would because of how this is impacting my mental health. I don’t know what to do.
Please help guide me and let me know if there’s any solutions because I don’t think it’s fair what’s happening. I also experienced a death of a family member in the first semester of this class and haven’t been able to focus, so I really don’t feel prepared at all for an exam that might be worth much more than she said. I know this might seem dramatic for some people, but for someone with anxiety and BPD this feels like the end of the world.

I usually do it a couple days before, but yeah, only a few hours to do it
Not specified
this is just a post on the queens reddit
If the strike lasts longer than exams, then I will have gotten payed for 75% of the term, but will have avoided probably 75% of the work I was assigned
since I will be missing 2 assignments, 1 midterm, 1 exam, and something like 5x5 1 hour tutorials
college is weird because it's this multi-year thing that you can fuck up at any point
and you're lucky if you have profs/family/friends who will help you get back where you want to be afterwards
Though I've always thought test accommodations were kind of stupid
There were countably few tests where I thought time was going to be a factor for anyone, and those were bad tests!
Other end of the spectrum, like 90% of tests are down to the wire, but usually I can get about 50% of it done in the first hour, then the next 2 is jumping between the remaining questions I did not get on my first runthrough
There's levels to it, but in general I don't think tests that overreward hacky test taking skills are that great
when I'm scanning through and skipping whole sections of problems because the point value for that part isn't worth the time it will take
or I'm carrying forward wrong numbers to domonstrate understanding and get points, for cases that are more trivial
it's a bad test imo
I don't do that
I do stop working on a problem if I get stuck for more than 30 seconds though
my EE Power Systems exams were like that
and just move on and come back later
you'd get these disgusting multi-phase generator problems
and you'd pick and choose parts to answer to rack up points quickly
because no one would finish more than 2/3 of the test by the end of the time block
Yeah, I think a fundementally fair test, you should be able to get a 70% if you know the material without tryharding studying
I do think most tests on average are fair tests, but they usually take about exactly as much time as you were provided
I do not think I have ever done any of those kinds of tests, but thats not really a thing in high level math
at least not the university math I've done
that does sound like ass though
I hate the sneaky number swaps
where a prof will copy a problem he knows everyone's worked almost 1:1
and then change one sign or move one decimal
yeah that should not be a problem
who the fuck remembers how to solve a problem step by step down to the numbers
I sure don't
it happened enough that I remember it
mostly for derived formulas
back to your copypasta though, idk why but I'm generally sympathetic to people who expend a lot of effort in college
even if they're a bit frustrating to talk down off a ledge after a bad test
Replying to Phijkchu_Pikachu #klombak who the fuck remembers how to solve a problem step by step down to the numbers
really stupid people who shouldn't be in STEM
Replying to Spooky Phijkchu #spooky.131 Though I've always thought test accommodations were kind of stupid
One guy in a group project said he was basically faking his severe anxiety on test taking to get more time and they would be placed in a separate room, and that most of the time the professor or administrator would leave and he would then cheat. Since then I’ve always hated that.

‘Snow White’ Early Favorite To Dominate Oscars
HOLLYWOOD, CA — Disney's latest offering, Snow White, is already garnering Oscar buzz after performing terribly at the box office and bombing with critics, attributes the Academy looks for when choosing films to nominate.

The Ghibli art style is plain, uninspired, and the actual reasons people love it is because of the quality of stories the style has been attached to, and the fluidity and details of the animations it appears in, not the style itself. I get that it has an innocent charm to it
