Discord is removing usernames being name#1234

and now its just a locked tag that 1 person can have

It was more of a “so I don’t care” than a “who cares”

Do usernames expire if they're on an inactive account? I bet people will camp/bot

they already "revserved" everyone's username for them

They did away with special characters

so if you had the username in Feb, or whenever their snapshot was from, they either reserved "Klombak" or if someone with an earlier/more important acct had that, you have "klombak6873"

The tag + unique username was a working thing though

it allows 10,000 people to share the same name

it's a solved system

People are gonna dox or worse if they want the same username

if 10,000 was too low, they could make it case sensitive to get to 20,000+

adding digits to the identifier literally scales exponentially

Luckily Rusp is an incredibly original name somehow

so if they add 2 digits and make it a 6, it will never be an issue ever

I think it's kinda funny that now, password generators will have another use when every sane/normal name gets taken

they could make numbers scale so that if they ever max out, it adds a number to a name so any new name is generated with 5

I don’t know if Rusp with 7s takes precedence or if Lennod is my second choice

Or replace a o with 0, s with 5, etc
