I see no part of the math that seems suspect at least

they seem to be using a probabilistic approach for how many days in given month should have high tides, and are altering the parameters based on the moon wobble

and seeing that the expected number of high tide days goes up

This is not the kind of physics I am familiar with though, since the people who wrote this paper seem to be earth scientists using astronomer data
