It's dropped a lot

bc the show changed

s3 just turned me off from the series

I forget literally everything about the show, other than the few episodes I remember really liking

they tried catering to their new fan base ruining what was good, so all the new fans dropped off along with long time viewers and it just left them with a shell of what made the show good

it was just good animated adult swim style stuff

I liked season 1 and 2 enough to buy that shit on dvd, never finished 3, did not watch 4

The creators made a new show at some point which we watched

other than that one episode I think we watched together as a group

and it was terrible

with the vat of acid

they turned rick from just a mad scientist into the smartest man in the world

I mean, thats not the real issue

the real issue is they got a bit up their own ass

and morty into a stupider version of himself

show was at its best when it was just absurdist comedy

it’s a major problem

yeah it went from absurdist comedy to trying to be overly smart or overly stupid

earlier seasons was just rick fucking everything up

now rick has just planned every future event

pretty common issue when it comes to “genius characters”

the worst example is aizen from bleach

I never liked how every side-gag got reused over and over

felt like they should have just used the series' popularity to make something neew

rather than do the same show to death

they got lost in their own hype

it’ll probably go on for 4-5 more seasons

and slowly die

or become a never ending series like family guy or simpsons

Same treatment Archer got

bringing it a bunch of new writers at one time is never a good thing

then it was just crazy side-gag seasons for 8 years

a big problem is just money, it’ll bring in money to continue making the show, even when it should of ended a while ago

the only good long running series is one piece

manga in general is a lot better at keeping long running series

merch and superfans are the only way they break even

s3 ep1 had the big climax and the rest of the season should’ve been getting everything back in order

a nice conclusion to a series

but instead you get a bunch of one off episodes for the rest of time

S4 had an arc, and it resolved the father question

it was shit from then on though

dug lord season, noir season, Jungle island, space, etc

it was all shit

so many shows good and bad, fall into this trap of continuing to make episodes that all have to one up themselves until the show and characters become an absurdist parody of themselves

worst example is 13 reasons why
