so, the water tank is on the right, we had a problem that we could not get a big bucket where the water was dripping (it was actually projectile shooting, but we put Plasticine and duck tape to force it to drip). So, in order to move the drip to somewhere we could put a big bucket, I zip tied a funnel to the pipe, then taped a rubber tube to the funnel
Not in a situation to fix the pipe today
so this'll be the solution for now
"eh fuck it, let's just leave this until tomorrow"
here's a better picture of just the setup
well, my mom does not know how to fix it, and while I think I could fix it since I know how to sodder, I don't know where my dad keeps that stuff (and we'd have to shut off the water to let it dry)
and my dad is not hope
its just easier to force the city to do it since they put it in
they have to fix it for free
damn
no hope
also, why is your city installing the pipes in your boiler room?
its common in this area to rent your water tank from the city
so they set it up and fix it if it breaks
you're in a single-family house right?
I could see communal tanks in a duplex or something
but I can't figure out why the city would own your water tank
you pay 13 a month to rent it versus the 1k+a few hundred for installation to own it
I think its just cheaper
but it costs more after <10 years to rent it
I'll accept that it's probably cheaper to rent it
I just can't get over how odd it'd be to have the city own part of your house
basically renting gives a lifetime warranty where they fix/replace the thing if needed
oh I totally get it, it's just strange is all
but yeah, its just an ontario thing
the other provinces do not do this
weird
but anyways, its the cities problem to fix
I just mitigated the damage
Putting my physics degree to work by doing engineering tasks
I was looking at that article
wait
this article says some Ontarians rent their fridges too
we own ours
I don't know about that
I think thats less common
AC units too
We own our AC too
it's all heavily subsidized
so like Pika says, they're kind of paying for it already via taxes
might as well rent I guess
just fuckign weird to have the city be your landlord essentially
I wonder if they can repo your water tank
I have never heard of that happening
No hot water for you
>they come in and turn the hot water valve off, I turn it back on
"They were very hesitant to tell me the buyout price. Tried to discourage me with warning such as excessive repair cost that I may have to incur in case the water heater breakdown; and offered 4 months of free rental"
>do not buy the heater please here have 4 free months
but yeah, +1 to the weird things in canadia land that confuse spooky
I guess
