Same for Canada, 2nd time advancing period, and first time since 1986
oh and apparently Mexico too
wow we all suck at soccer
I think all three have decent odds to potentially win their next ones too
I assume we have plenty of players
ok so, for knockout stage wins
USA
2026 - 1 win (so far)
2002 - 1 win
Canada
2026 - 1 win (so far)
Mexico
2026 - 1 win (so far)
1986 - 1 win
I'm pretty sure this is right
The size keeps changing, so it's hard to compare
but this is just, "have these nations won a game when it was an elimination game"
and not just, did they beat some shitter in the group stages
this is 1970
I am somewhat impressed the US seems to make it out of the group stage a fair bit
(even if we normally just lose)
Canadaians avert your eyes
someone figured out that the USA has soft agreed to host the world cup every 3 cycles now
It'll go USA --> Europe/S.America/Africa -->Asia/Middle East --> repeat
technically they could do an Australia/NZ one instead of USA one cycle if they wanted
and FIFA could just re-write their rules again
but how it is now, it looks like we get the World cup every 12 years
yeah so, the way the rules work now, is neither continent that hosted the last 2 games can bid
S.America & Africa realistically can't host a full tourney, but Europe is fine letting them have some home games
and the Middle East being "Asia" fucks over actual Asia
China wants to host one
or yeah, SEA-jointly
because they expanded to 48 teams, it sorta freezes out most small countries, and all broke countries
So
US 2038 - Europe 2042 - Japan-Korea-Indonesia 2046
Thousands of (literal) slaves and Filipino workers died building their stadiums, but I think it was fine otherwise
I have not cared about soccer at all, until like 2 weeks ago when I started watching tourists order burgers in funny accents
Replying to Spooky Phijkchu #spooky.131 Thousands of (literal) slaves and Filipino workers died building their stadiums, but I think it was fine otherwise
6,500 dead slaves
only a few dozen dead Filipinos (because they have a real country and are US-supported)
The Philippines actual keep really good track it turns out, 36 dead but that includes all of the Gulf States not just Qatar over the years of World Cup construction projects
Replying to Kribbles #kribbles1 That'd be awesome having the world cup in Australia
They better not host it in the Bulldog's stadium (Canterbury-Bankstown). Bulldogs fans are intollerable when they win, and you just want to go outside to buy a pizza.
Then again, that's an AFL stadium. Can you even play soccer at an AFL stadium?
I guess you could, so long as you change the rules of soccer to be identical to AFL.
Actually that's a great idea: at the last minute before the next world cup, change all the rules to AFL, and force all the soccer teams to play another sport.

Depends how long the elevator ride is
15-20 seconds, as stated in the question
specifically, a solo ride
so you get on, select your floor, and you ride it all the way there alone
Your elevator has a whiteboard?
I did not fully read lol
yes Pika, and they're great
I convinced them to add them to my work one, after I told them how cool Amazon's were
I've never seen an elevator with a whiteboard
We also have TVs in ours, that are just advertisements for random weapon systems my company makes
on-loop
and dammit, I messed up the last question
