As far as I know, homework is still mandatory in my county

in middle and high school, homework was only mandatory if the teachers bothered to check

needless to say, i barely ever did my homework

homework was a list of questions you were told to do, and I never did them

homework was what you'd use to get students to learn (if they needed it), assignments was to make the students prove that they learned

I didn't do any group theory stuff, but usually that is the stuff swept under the rug that you take for granted learning it for the first time

for convolution on a sphere you need to know what every possible rotation on the sphere is and how the orthogonal decomposition is affected by every rotation

I didn't know that since I do not do much convolution stuff, but that makes sense

I also found a method to generalize the harmonics to arbitrary degree and order in the complex field, but I have no use for it

i had homework starting at like grade 3 or 4, and it was all graded. you would fail a class if you did not do enough of your homework, test scores alone were not enough. had homework for multiple subjects almost every day.
