My laptop crashed while I was marking
I guess crowdmark was too intensive for my 4GB of ram and intel pentium N3710
I am going to buy a new laptop lmao

PC upgrade aquired
now I have an i7 gen 13 and 16 GB of ram, much more usable as my visiting home machine
W10 or W11?
11, nothing sells 10 now
I'll put up with it for an ocassional use laptop
yeah, just curious
around here most stores are still providing the option
I feel like things won't be W11 only for another year or two
If you know a good one, I'll consider it
Still setting up and installing updates

lesferch.github.ioSpooky, bestbuy had 4 sections for laptops, the funniest one was the laptops with built in copilot
Optimizer isn't 100%, but it catches most of the normal flags you'd want to disable
Replying to Phijkchu_Pikachu #klombak Spooky, bestbuy had 4 sections for laptops, the funniest one was the laptops with built in copilot (edited)
The crazy part about those
is their "copilot chip" can barely run anything
My options were mac, windows, 2 in 1, and copilot
I, of course, just chose windows
I'm 100% onboard with AI, but for a laptop doing on-CPU processing just doesn't make sense
CUDA acceleration on GPUs is a stop-gap until co-processors get a lot better, we're not close yet
yeah
Asus
btw Pika, congrats on doing the thing where you notice a problem with your computer, and rectify it in 1-2 days
@Phijkchu_Cynnydaquil take notes
oh Pika, does your ASUS have the meme touchbar thing
Replying to Spooky Phijkchu #spooky.131 btw Pika, congrats on doing the thing where you notice a problem with your computer, and rectify it in 1-2 days
did not mean that as a reply
Pika, spooky advice
if you don't plan to be backing up your laptop regularly, I wouldn't do full-disk encryption, though I do like it
Replying to legorhin #jazardly that is a massive mousepad
I have a wireless mouse/keyboard lol
I've had that fuck me over on lapops before, just a note of caution
Replying to Spooky Phijkchu #spooky.131 if you don't plan to be backing up your laptop regularly, I wouldn't do full-disk encryption, though I do like it
I don't even know how to do that
yeah, I figured it might prompt you
if not, dw
I honestly don't know
probably
I've only ever used WinProfessional
Also wtf
that is the thinest most gangly power cord I've seen for a laptop
maybe it's just the camera, it just looks surprisingly thin, I'm impressed
it is very thin
I think 1mm diameter
maybe 1.5
Is there stuff I should be careful about using this optimizer
don't want to accidentally brick my pc
no and really if you don't care you should only be turning off telemetry and any windows services you don't care about
I remember most of the settings being pretty straightforward
Well, I disabled telemitry and some misc stuff like cortana and copilot
I am just going to manually uninstall apps, I trust myself to do that more than using this
I did
I hit most of the restore classic stuff
since I am mostly familiar with 7 and 10
are you talking about folder tabs Leg?
Uninstalling the pre packaged mcaffe lol
