I'm missing something, why do people care about the Twitter block change?
it reads to me like the change accomplishes blocking to the same degree as before
it's not a shadowban/mute, it's still a block, but it seems like people would be less likely to bother circumventing
also obligatory, bsky is still a ghost town full of only the most neurotic people
all the freakout posts I see threatening to leave are some form of weird attention seeking
who would make an alt to view posts when blocked
yep, that's my perspective too Garbage
I also don't know how common it is to need to block someone, I figure most active accounts might have a few nuts
but all the small art accts I follow act like they're going to be inundated with people harassing them out of the blue
idk if I buy that reason
it just seems like this is more likely to stem people making alt accounts to harass people, at least a little bit
I think it’s largely based on “oh this is Elon making a decision Elon bad”
he caught a rocket, can't he have good vibes for a week at least
Replying to Spooky Phijkchu #spooky.131 also obligatory, bsky is still a ghost town full of only the most neurotic people all the freakout posts I see threatening to leave are some form of weird attention seeking
I hate how bluesky fractures the whole idea of a decentralized social media platform by making their own protocol, really wish they used activitypub
I think the appeal of fedi has always been getting back to smaller communities, and then selectively interacting between communities
bluesky is not that at all
I think I just don't like the angle of being a catch-all fediverse node (if bsky was more integrated)
why be federated at that point?
bluesky is just twitter but without people
the most neurotic, weirdest people post on bsky
and that's it
Do not look at vinny's recent tweet Spooky
lol really?
I was going to make fun of him on twitter, opted not to
@Phijkchu_Cynnydaquil lol
Bluesky's main problem is only the most annoying people from twitter are on it
I see a common cycle on art twitter
1) Catch Elon derangement syndrome
2) Make a bsky, start posting there mirroring Twitter
3) Wonder why they get ZERO interaction on bsky
4) give up
the only people who stay at the most neurotic, absolute obsessed people
I like the fediverse, but everyone I follow just went back to twitter
so I never bother looking at it
I think twitter as a platform is the least appealing app type to be federated
"microblogging" is not community centric at all really
so having dedicated community nodes is kind of just arbitrary
Mint, I'm curious if you have a different perspective on the Twitter block change
I really want to understand the other side of the argument
because I still just don't get it
that last part is what I can't just get over
I got caught up in some old school block lists back in the day
I genuinely think the soft block is a better approach
and I'd just.... log out or cache the page when I found someone who was using it
to read their timeline
those lists are gone now, I can't remember the last time I found an acct that has me blocked
I'm 99% sure they're not doing that
all the interaction buttons will be locked
so it's obvious your blocked, it will tell you, but you can still read their timeline while logged in
Replying to Spooky Phijkchu #spooky.131 I'm 99% sure they're not doing that
yeah that's what I assumed
new likes are stupid imo
I don't feel like I use it more either
ah, gotcha gotcha
