In honor of Rusp, I will not say the number between 6-8 today
That's his number
pirate and rusp
That was a poster for a movie
In-universe
Happy 7/7 @Rusp
Here's what my PhD course scheduel is going to look like
Other than analysis, I am less familiar with any of that, so it should be interesting
I am trying to find the page where the explain what the course teaches
thats just why my supervisors said I should take
Its being taught by my supervisor, who is in information theory
if that helps
all of those sound like information theory courses to me
besides analysis
analysis, if you believe it or not, is what I will be doing regarding information theory
so it is all related
functional
okay pika i'll have you on call when we need a new compression algorithm for our game
I took a course in functional analysis during my masters because my masters also was very functional analysis heavy
so its not a new topic for me at least
wait, speech and image coding
most of the filesize of toushin gent comes from an unncesary amount of voice lines...
If I learn things that will help with your game making endevors, I will let you know
This will be winter though
so 8+ months before I can tell you
Alright pirate, the quest to devolope our own unique compression algorithm instead of using a base one that has already been tested and optimized is a go
I guess
okay need an algorithm for storing both audio and graphics data in a single archive so that redundancies across all files can be reduced for compression. however it also must be able to index and decode any single file in a not noticeable time on a shitty pc, without needing to decompress the whole archive into memory or similar things.
Store it all in memory
train one of these for the audio and graphics each and store just the encodings
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Autoencoder
Autoencoder
An autoencoder is a type of artificial neural network used to learn efficient codings of unlabeled data (unsupervised learning). An autoencoder learns two functions: an encoding function that transforms the input data, and a decoding function that recreates the input data from the encoded representation. The autoencoder learns an efficient repre...

I've sat in that Denver Ruby Tuesday's on many a layover watching planes taxi around
I wonder what they replaced it with now that they went out of business
