Rare severe geomagnetic storm watch issued for first time in nearly...
The sunspot responsible for the odd series of strong solar flares is so big you can see it with your own eyes from Earth.
www.cbsnews.comok, I learned something new, the scale for solar flares is retarded
instead of Huricane or Tornado scales
it goes A-->B-->C-->M-->X
you can tell these people were not gamers
it would fuck up anything magnetic, power generation being the "kill shot" piece
NO! THE HADRON COLLIDER
MY BELOVED
but yeah, electronics would get fucked up too, all data storage is magnetic,
Computers themselves would retain some function, since there's a degree of tolerance to their instruction sets, but yeah, would be really catastophic
Spooky, why is the Rob archive not in a Faraday cage???
so Pika, this might be interesting to someone
spooky you need to put the archive on one of these
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/5D_optical_data_storage
5D optical data storage
5D optical data storage (also branded as Superman memory crystal, a reference to the Kryptonian memory crystals from the Superman franchise) is an experimental nanostructured glass for permanently recording digital data using a femtosecond laser writing process. Discs using this technology could be capable of storing up to 360 terabytes worth of...
en.wikipedia.orgReplying to legorhin #jazardly spooky you need to put the archive on one of these https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/5D_optical_data_storage
If this came out, you know Spooky would own 2 or 3 of them
I actually got a special fire extinguisher for the streamer house, since I was unaware that normal fire extinguishers will corrode all electronics in a house they're used in
thats neat and also good thinking
idk if that's common knowledge, but I had zero idea
It makes sense to me
they're not that much more expensive either
it's not even "direct spray fucks these up"
using a normal class ABC extinguisher will jsut fuck up all phones/computers/ w/e within the same enclosed air space
I believe it has to do with the dry chemicals binding to water in the air, and as those air molecules move about the house and settle, they gradually corrode whatever it is they touch, which affects electronics pretty severely
not that you *cant* clean them
Yeah electronics are pretty sensitive to internal corrosion
but you're essentially talking about a complete corrosive layer on-top of every surface of the computer internals
it won't instantly brick them
but the expectation is they will have their lifespan/reliability approach zero

dude knows how to throw
Replying to Mini #mini6030 Just went on a recuse call where an old lady died on the shitter
hopefully someone noticed pretty quickly
"hey, grandma's been in the bathroom for an hour, maybe we sould check on her"
this is semi-current
@Rusp an Amazon driver just dropped off a box of kneepads at my house
is this your joke?
The Northern Lights are cool
Are they visibile where you are?
I'll go check if its visible for me, its cloudy here
They overperformed, people in S.Carolina can see them
it's kinda cloudy here, but the horizon is semi-clear
Not visible
sadly
will try again later
there is no clouds
I am mad if it ends up not being visible here after I missed the total eclipse
