I mentioned this in VC last night, but there's also this thing that happens, that all the clouds disappear during a total eclipse (excluding massive storm clouds)
No one quite understands why it happens
If I had to guess, since I have never heard of that, its that in the absence of light the thin clouds are less visible so they look like they go away. When there is actual light refracting through it, they are very visible
so they are still there
just its not making a mess of light by having tons of light bounce around inside the clouds
