I would assume if string theory were real, they cannot stop

they have a ground level of vibration
Replying to Phijkchu_Pikachu #klombak dude loved fridges
was he like stealing the compressors?
no, he just took old lab equipment that was being thrown out for being old
he'd come to class excited to tell us about the new cryostat he had
Replying to Particleboy04 #particleboy04 like i would have done research in it but i don’t like ml lol
have you done ml or do you just hate programming?
Replying to legorhin #jazardly have you done ml or do you just hate programming?
um i’ve done it a bit and it’s not something that really interests me
i kinda like programming
i wouldn’t want to do it or think about it full time though
So like what if light pulses and that causes the vibrations that would be cool, and then those vibrations are strings some how, IDK how that works, and those strings make up shit like positrons and photons, which will make up protons. they can all decay, but it takes a real long time because our universe is like full of energy or something. but like after a long enough time everything will slow down.

the lab i’m in rn has so many old oscilloscopes that are literally never used and I want to ask my prof if i could steal one

Interestingly my quantum prof was showing us some of his research where you can use the paraxial helmholtz equations as an analogue to a 2d schrödinger equation
I understand what you just said
Garbage has no chance
Sadly, there is no nobel for mathematics
I need to win the fields medal
yeah isn't it before you are 30?
or at least the work needs to be done before then
yeah I knew it was 3x
I have 4 years effectively
I could totally wow them with my PhD work and win one
its possible
oh even better
Its to reward promissing new researchers
I believe
I think statistically, most impressive work is done earlier in academics careers though
that is true
If I was getting it, it would be for theoretical work. I would 100% have to split it with an experimentalist
P = NP if N = 1
or if P = 0
I solved it fully
what headway has there been into an P=NP proof beyond looking for examples, if any headway has been made?
The inability to prove the existnce of a counter example is not a valid proof though, that just means we can never know, not that P = NP or P neq NP
I have no idea, the only millenium problem I have any passing knowledge of is Navier Stokes because I took a few courses in fluids
The only way I could see P = NP is if there is a completely different way to do math that is nothing like how we have it now
math as it is now, there 100% is problems that cannot be computed in polynomial time
Oh, either way
same statement just change my wording
another proof, Polynomial time is no problem, hence P = NP
Yeah
that is the headway, they proved that all of the problems that they need to look at are fundamentally equivalent
and proving 1 implies they are all true
Replying to legorhin #jazardly its really just proving one specific problem can be solved in polynomial time because all the relevant ones can be reduced or restated the same way
or equivalently proving that one cant
okay so beyond finding NP-complete problems we have no clue
Replying to Particleboy04 #particleboy04 started doing CS and realized i hate it as a career path, especially how it was taught at my school
This is the correct opinion
Or at least, a big part of why I didn't do CS
This is the most Chinese amazon seller name I've come across
Regi, I assume this is pretty up there, even by your standards
