the retards behind that project are going to accidentally luck into become the dominant LoRa network, and actaully make it work
most of these hardware crypto scams
ended up at least breaking even
Iirc this thing farms atmospheric data and gives a kickback in crypto
not the worst idea since that data is useful
That's a different thing Pika, but yeah the atmospheric data one had some real value
the one on his flagpole is a Helium network antenna

the concept is to build out a peer-to-peer LoRaWAN network, and pay people in crypto for mantaining their piece of the network based on use
The Helium network is then essentially portioned and sold to telecom companies, to provide that additional coverage as a part of their network
the abstract idea being, stick an antenna on your roof or in your attic, and indirectly get paid by AT&T for them leasing the tiny amount of network coverage you provide
in addition to LoRa, they also do 5G now too
the project has been pretty severely mismanaged though, a new team is trying to turn it around but it's a shame they wasted the opportunity they had
