Discord could easily be profitable at this point
Nitro is not the way to do it though
nor is the "all internet communities should use Discord" push, similar to Twitch's "stream anything on our platform"
Discord's going to get bought by Microsoft or IBM or some other giant company, and have a subscription fee added to it

all the community shit, the forums, public servers, school servers, etc. is all worthless
Discord literally only works as a casual communication platform
I just think it's really annoying how all the things that would once use forums are now on discord
makes searching for stuff way harder

and game/community/etc discords devolve into circlejerks more consistently than forums would

service is more russian, indians use it a lot though
telegram is big in india/russia, wechat is the asian one

but yeah, strip 99% of the superfluous shit out of Discord
the way reasonable <100 person servers function is fairly good
it's decent for workplaces, although hard to configure
It's a really good messaging app
and if they clean up the ability to be a quick-to-join video chat service (without all the overhead of servers/channels) they'd be good at that too
But yeah spooky, get to work on our discord alternative for when the ship sinks

and non-subs will be severely limited
I am not paying to use discord if that is ever implemented
if spooky didn't disappear for a bit we might've been able to communicate on the booru comment section by now
