investment group came along and bought up THQ & THQ Nordic to revive the AA-game industry
and then (using Saudi loans) bought up pretty much every notable independent AA developer, which is what Microsoft/Sony have been doing as well
then, the Saudi money stopped coming, they were massively in debt and have had a string of underwhelming/bad releases
so everything fell apart

Replying to Spooky Phijkchu #spooky.131 Embracer collapsing is probably a sign that a game industry crash is coming imo
anyway i've been hoping for all these major western game companies to collapse for years and years
Ubi and Take2 treat all there different sattelite studios as seperate entities for some reason
when a lot of them are just glorified remote-work campuses
Square Enix is also a weird in-between player not on this list
I think they're the biggest remaining non-aligned studio group
Replying to Dialga #god_of_time it can only be good for the industry for them to collapse

I was hoping a collapse would be top-down, rather than bottom-up
2032 Post-collapse: only two games exist:
- GTA6
- SuperGacha: Multiverse Waifu Harem Extreme DX
Switch 2 turns out to be nothing but amibos and companion mobile apps
If Nintendo ever loses their pipeline of new kids becoming invested in Mario
That's kind of what has been happening to Disney, their iconic characters/brands are becoming less and less of a draw
