zero is its own story in a lot of ways

and UBW too

they are self consistant and that is all that matters

its like how index and railgun conflict in their depictions of events

it does not matter because they do not conflict within their respective stories

I mean it's still canon in the way that the war definitely did play out similarly, saber blew up the grail and kerry killed a bunch of people

I imagine some of the last 2 episodes had some of the big inconsistencies

and kirei and gil fucked everything up

the main story beats are definitely canon

but because of a bunch of minor inconsistencies to stay night lore, the zero anime is not 100% canon

I think you can just pretend it is a case of a faulty narrator and move on. Zero -> UBW is not that big of a deal

yeah it doesn't matter much

since as said, all the really major things played out mostly the same

its not a problem in the anime universe of fate

one other thing that annoyed me about the zero anime was that all the servents just all showed up and introduced themselves at the start

I chalked that up to the characters

I could totally see the big guy coming out and announcing who he was

the good part about f/sn was the fear of the unknown

I will say though

as much as I hate deermud tp

his death scene was my favorite part of zero

kiritsugu got to go 100% badass

I liked the lance guy's death scene in UBW
