Finished The Strength of the Few and I enjoyed it. I recommend the series. I look online and I guess people don't like it, but whatever, I enjoyed it a lot.

Started watching the anime The Dark History of the Reincarnated Villainess, and I started thinking of The Chronicles of Thomas Covenant the Unbeliever

I think Thomas Covenant might be the oldest example of isekai by Truck-Kun.

Since that book series dates to the 70s.

I do not get the hype behind the Thomas Covenant books. Read them for the first time somewhat recently and found them just ok. Not bad really, but definitely not stand-out.

Asked a while ago, but, for once my opinion was actually the majority. I usually have quite different opinions haha. A lot of the characters just generally felt out of place, notably Kaladin, and the overall story just became too big for the world. Once you start going into the realm of the gods, the story becomes too much. I don't exactly know how to explain, but I enjoy more grounded stories. Also the ending just sucks. I care more for endings than anything else and I was told that this would be a good ending for the half-way point of the series, but the ending is not only a MASSIVE cliffhanger, but leaves just about every non-Kaladin character in just a horrible place.

Kaladin's entire story arc is entirely anachronistic though and I don't understand how anyone competent could have written it.

also also I think Rothfuss is secrely dead and any time he's been seen in real life is a body double.

I only got 3 quarters through Lord Foul's Bane. Besides inventing truck-kun, I did find the book rather freaky how nobody ever said the word "fuck". I asked my acting teacher if that word was invented in 1980.

Been reading the latest Black Company book, and I can really see Glen Cook's innerweeb grow. 25 years ago (Real time. Not book time), the Black Company was last seen moving to fantasy Tibet. Now every other new character has a Japanese name with "no" (with the n being lower case) as their middle name.

I've been putting off reading Black Company for some time now despite being recommended it, would you think it's worth getting in to?

So long as the Rapture doesn't happen this Honnikah, sure? General rule of thumb is if you don't like the first book, give the second a shot since it is structually a lot different as it wasn't written as a bunch of novellas duck-taped together.

no, what happened is the following Pika thinks "everyone is here. I will post this." He then types the first part of his message. However he then thinks "wait, what if the full cast is not actually here?" So he places his eye cursor on the leftmost figure and begins to verify one by one left to right that each member of the cast is there. But he wants to save his memory since he has a lot of other things on his mind, so he decides that he'll forget each character's name after he recognizes it, and instead just remember how many of the cast members appeared. When his eye seeks to the end and verifies the last character, he knows that the whole cast is there because the number he counted is the same as the cast size. But there's a problem... Because he didn't remember the names of each one, he doesn't know what to write in the message! He thinks "I COULD return my eye cursor to the beginning, and then go from left to right and write the name of each character. BUT, then I would end up moving twice the amount..." He realizes that in order to best preserve the number of uses of his eyes, which can only traverse a fixed number of degrees in their lifetime, it's more efficient to instead write the name of the characters in reverse order starting from his current position at the right.

The writer was a Peace Corps volunteer for Uzbekistan for 3 months before he got culture shock and pleaded to go home, and then some years later, he decided to go back and visit the friends he made. The book is half history and half a travel blog. If you enjoy the travel blogs from mattlakeman.org then this book is a much more in-depth version of those blogs.

It says it's about the Aral Sea, but don't expect to hear about it for more than 30 or so pages. It's mainly an introduction of the history of Uzbekistan.

He recommended this last night and I am going to actually read it
