Last book series I read was Deltora Quest, but since it got an anime adaptation it doesn't count.

On an unrelated note Glen Cook has a bit of a funny reputation (I say unrelated since Glen Cook has nothing to do with Deltora Quest). While he is known as the "Grandfather of Grimdark", having been writing since the 70s, and for writing soldiers well since he is a Vietnam vet (personally, I find the two best things he writes about are cranky old men and artillery).
Post-2000s, Glen Cook becomes more and more of a weeb. I hear in one of his last Garrett P.I. books he rips off FATE, but I wouldn't know since I've only read the first 11, and haven't consumed any FATE media.
Back to Deltora Quest, my favourite twist that wasn't ruined to me by someone else, is that while the Belt of Deltora only works on he that is heir to the kingdom of Deltora (i.e. the rightful king), the next person in line for the belt is Lief's 42nd cousin (in the event that Lief dies before producing his own heir)
The first king's second son really got around, and ever since the third king there was a rule that was emplaced by a foreign spy that the king may only have one child.

Can't tell if you're joking or not since an anime does exist called Dungeon of Black Company (which I haven't watched), and probably a thousand other mangas/anime containing the words "Black Company", since "Black Company" is a term in Japanese.

Finished The Strength of the Few and I enjoyed it. I recommend the series. I look online and I guess people don't like it, but whatever, I enjoyed it a lot.

Started watching the anime The Dark History of the Reincarnated Villainess, and I started thinking of The Chronicles of Thomas Covenant the Unbeliever
I think Thomas Covenant might be the oldest example of isekai by Truck-Kun.
Since that book series dates to the 70s.

I do not get the hype behind the Thomas Covenant books. Read them for the first time somewhat recently and found them just ok. Not bad really, but definitely not stand-out.
(Also I only just now saw that this was changed to books chat)
Replying to Kribbles #kribbles1 I didn't notice a drop in quality on the most recent Stormlight Archive book, what did you find was bad about it, Tiny?
Asked a while ago, but, for once my opinion was actually the majority. I usually have quite different opinions haha. A lot of the characters just generally felt out of place, notably Kaladin, and the overall story just became too big for the world. Once you start going into the realm of the gods, the story becomes too much. I don't exactly know how to explain, but I enjoy more grounded stories.
Also the ending just sucks. I care more for endings than anything else and I was told that this would be a good ending for the half-way point of the series, but the ending is not only a MASSIVE cliffhanger, but leaves just about every non-Kaladin character in just a horrible place.
Kaladin's entire story arc is entirely anachronistic though and I don't understand how anyone competent could have written it.

I only got 3 quarters through Lord Foul's Bane. Besides inventing truck-kun, I did find the book rather freaky how nobody ever said the word "fuck". I asked my acting teacher if that word was invented in 1980.
