Secretariat turned out to have good genes, that bred in good traits
So the move now is they're trying to introduce Japanese, Middle Eastern, and S. American horses in to counteract the Dancer genes
Would it be cheating to do gene editing on a horse embryo to make the ubermench horse

you can buy secretariat samples still, but you're better off getting a sire line

From 2001-2012, these three sire lines yielded 61% of leading sires. That percentage jumped to 95% over the course of 2013-2024
there's a 3rd smaller one behind Secretariat and Dancer
but all-in-all, those 3 lines are 95% of horses, and essentially 100% of stake G1 horses

the reason why people liked northern Dancer so much, was because he had these elegant small legs, and a massive frame

it turns out, when you breed horses for speed, over enough generations, having "spindly legs" in their genes
is a really bad move

I can not win with top gun
