but yeah, SG is good, I probably rank it at a mid 8
based on what I have seen
its fun to watch
and I love the MC's personality
yeah, the science has not been too bad
the only part that was amusing was the redhead bringing up how time travel is impossible in a string theory universe, which is consistant with it actually working because string theory is bullshit
they do timetravel in the second best way (behind time looping) up to episode 14
sending messages/memories back in the past >> sending physical things
Time travel is something we can't do so I have more leway
for scifi saying "it just works like this in our universe"
and accepting it
gravity is something we know a hell of a lot about
so patema annoyed me because they fucked up something as basic as gravitational acceleration
tbh, the only scene in patema that annoyed me
a lot
was when they were chained to the roof, the chain breaks, then they instantly accelerate to mach 10 upwards
thats not how gravity works
SG is much better physics check wise than dimension W
which I also liked
so far anyways
episode 14 ended with them going to the actual time machine, and if they start actually going back in time, that might lower my rating of its physics check
garbage, funny thing about bopits watching btw
despite frame by frame analysis every scene, he missed the fact that shin was annettes neighbour despite it being one of the more obvious twists

I like that bopit is enjoying 86. I got him to watch an actually good anime
and I am on pace to finish SG before he finishes part 1
He takes an hour to watch an episode + time for us to discuss usually
I watch about 2-3 episodes before I have anything meaningful to discuss with him about it
thats more on me, and the fact that he does not remember the show fully because he has not watched it recently
I can discuss 86 with him more easily because I have legitimately watched it like 9 times in the last 6 months
so I basically remember everything that happens
irrelevant to any of the story or plot, steins;gate has the worst fake science of anything I've seen, because it manages to make a certain aspect entirely mechanically, logically, and physically impossible by explaining it more than was necessary.
ideally fake science makes something acceptable if you assume a thing or set of things to just work
but in steins;gate it does the opposite where the explanation removes any possibility of the science ever checking out

86 C2 EP11; Aspect ratio fuckery was interesting; not shocked white haired chick is not dead; how is girl not deaf after being that close to an explosion. I only barely suspend my belief with the nano machine cum knocking her out of the way to not be evaporated, but that doesn't stop the soundwave.

I love how she sometimes is outside of the aspect ratio. Another aspect is how the aspect ration closes off and cuts shins arm during the dream sequence
the cinematography in this show is incredible
