I don't know of a reason to not use the kanji of a word, so the first one is probably just to make it be separate "spellings"

Interesting premise, I liked it

never fully, but /a/ used to shill it so much I ended up reading the manga after I got tired of the VN

I assume that means theyre making it more accurate to the VN
