setup a bunch of characters, kill 90% of them off in the first few chapters/episodes, then you get deeper in an realize you need to replenish them so you can have there be stakes again

I feel like what it did was fine for 2 seasons, and then it introduced a new wave of bodies for the unnecessary third season arc.

Last thing I'll say about this bunch of episodes for the book club. Just found out that Close Combat Mage has an anime adaptation called "Melee Mage" and it's 3 years old. The premise is a guy uses his knowledge of IRL kung fu to become OP in a VRMMO.
