I have mixed thoughts on the new Ghost in the Shell Anime
I think the movies are legit art, but they're not really an adaptation of the source material, which is what this 2026 anime is trying to be
So this will be a worse end product, but a more faithful adaptation
E1 is pretty good, but you'll understand immediately that it's going for a different sorta vibe

It was technically more like 14 episodes, first one was an hour

I am pretty sure the entire arc is the last 5 minutes of episode 1 - the end of episode 3/start of 4
Yeah, they do all that, but they streamlined the fucking around in the camp part a lot
Having not read the source, I think they did a good job with season 1 and its pacing, so I trust them to only make reasonable cuts that still tell a compelling story
I read the manga after the anime, and it's mostly cuts to the hero background and world lore stuff, and maybe only slightly cutting down the bandit camp
It moves really fast though, and you can tell they need to fix a lot with S2
Like Pika, I hope you appreciated they tried to explain 10 different important magic system components in 30 seconds in S2E1
This season of skeleton knight is weird, they clearly recorded on tin can mics
it's really obvious, this was either done in some makeshift recording studio, or they fucked up the raw files and couldn't re-take
