of course the megumin konosuba spin off would never get adapted, why would it...
If a series is interesting enough that an anime makes me pick up the manga mid-season, it usually ends up being one of my favorite series
yeah, sometimes I'll casually pick up a source after the anime airs, but more often than not what I read/watch doesn't overlap a ton
I don't think I've ever picked up a manga/LN midway through though, I'd feel retarded if I didn't go back to the beginning

I just question why someone would bother

it probably doesnt work anywya since source usually has a few extra things that got cut from a show, BUT i do know one case where the show was JUST the manga exactly and picking up where it left off was totally fine
I've got mixed feelings of reading The King's Avatar when I did.
Like there are a lot of story arcs that got skipped in the anime, but it made it really hard to appreciate the anime as it was. I kept watching season 3 (which I dropped) asking "WHERE ARE WE IN THE BOOK?" which is not a good state of mind to be in.
But then again, in the time since I have read it, there has been a lot of changes to the official translation. And there's probably been some chinese sensorship, like removing the main character's smoking habbit.
edit: reskimming, they didn't remove the cigarretes from the early chapters.

I have been enjoying the current twitter discourse. Someone called Pomi from the amazing digital circus a loli, so a bunch of people came out and responded with "She's 25, she acts like an adult, etc". Anyone who sticks their head over the trenches to make this defense is being bombarded with pictures of anime girls who are canonically old or act old such as shinbou from monogatari because that defense is the same one usually used for anime
