I didn't recommend it because it's not really a Pika show
I thought it was really good, didn't realize it was only 6 episodes which honestly kinda undermines it
it feels like the story should be longer, and it's not even that it would need filler or anything
it's not misery porn, the way each of the stories plays out works
I'll give them a lot of credit, that they lean into it being episodic, rather than just making a theatrical movie and cutting it into 6 parts
which is part of why I'm surprised its already over
I think my criticism of Takopi is that it doesn't draw out more from what it sets up
it's content to not belabor or overly dwell on its themes, it's surprisingly narrowly focused, says what it wants to say and then bows out.
I really, REALLY like that it doesn't pull some nihilist bullshit like other, similar stories do, that's a cop out imo and I think the ending Takopi goes with is satisfying.
It's not so much "I want more" it's that I feel like there was more RIGHT THERE and I'm just kinda surprised the author had such a contained scope. It's def not incomplete by any means
Easily in the 5* camp, well worth watching if you like slower sad-baiting dramas
The anime literally explained it took her over a decade of work

They could buy time by doing an anime-original backstory or surface story sidetrack
But the main Riku story is maybe only 5-6 episodes worth ahead, of where S3 ended

First one could be an anime original movie for the initial group to reach layer 7, there's a little backstory in the manga but you could probably flesh this out into an anime-original story
then movie 2 is Riku's journey to the 7th layer
if they wanted, the 1st movie could technically be a bunch of short stories of different groups exploring layer 7, over time
but that seems way more weird than just following the one journey of group 1
Just get the author to give them direction on an anime original movie
thats probably way faster than that fucker actually making more manga
the next chapter is releasing today
