then she gets too smart for her own good and nothing happens with that

Aqua had negative growth

it seemed like he did then it was all thrown away with the arbitrary ending

Aqua's only good chapters were the ones at the end of the S2 anime weirdly enough when he thinks his father is dead and tries to figure out what to do next

you also get the Goro life backstory there and expect it to go somewhere

Frill shows up

you expect SOMETHING to happen with all of that

Kana's character growth is all off screen

during the time skip

she doesn't really change though, she's unsure of herself for the entire series in different ways, and anytime she begins to develop confidence or figure out goals, Aka forgets he wrote that and then has her do the same thing again

until the manga ends

Ruby is done worse as a character

but Kana feels completely wasted too

I don't think Akane is a good main char, her early arc is good but once she joins the main cast she's never really unitized as a character, only a plot device

occasionally as a foil for other characters, but usually just to setup shit Aka wants to happen

and he uses the justification of "wow she's so smart she figures out exactly what to do that would have the most interesting narrative outcome"

once, fine sure, use it as a crutch

but it happens over and over again

there were 2? fakeouts there as well

and then unassassinated, to have the final dumb scene

and then assassinated again

I was annoyed with the current arc being the last, when it was obvious 40-50 chapters ago this was the endgame

but figured he'd pay off at least a couple of the plotlines, maybe use a few of the details he'd setup, and give one or two characters their moment

but Aka instead wrote nothing of substance for over a year, and then rushed into a genuinely retarded ending that makes zero sense other than to feed Twitter memes (which he does on purpose)
