crow-aqua is preferable to amnesia aqua, which would be the worst way to end it imo. Aka is building up for a bait-and-switch, but if it ends with him "dying" by forgetting everything from his past life OnK will legit be one of my least favorite series endings ever (edited)

I think the AoT ending was bad for a lot of reasons, but mostly because it was this sudden ooc shift and then everything was over and you got some handwavey wrap-up
