Really unfortunate for international "My Deer Friend Nokotan" fans out there. 🙏 It appears that the official English, French (except ADN which made their own subs), and German subtitles of the show might have been translated by AI. The translations come from the licensor REMOW,
twitter.comaccording to twitter anyways
were they bad?
Replying to Phijkchu_Pikachu #klombak were they bad?
in the opening sequence they fail to capitalize the name of the high school

The subs are not too bad, I am watching it and it is at least gramatically correct if nothing else
yeah
shika-tan was definitely not AI translated, but it's one of those shows that's heavy on wordplay you can't localize
the subs are imo fine, the CR translator actually tried
but I'd also bet some autist pciks it up to re-translate everything to their prefered wordplay
Yeah I had no issues with the subs from the version I downloaded, but I checked, the preair 3 days ago have different subs
so maybe the preair had AI translated subs

people are theorizing it's because people were shitting on this season's trashy BL show
but imo, this was probably in-progress for a while
so many sites are removing comments, mostly to hide how dead their engagement is

literally one of people's biggest praises of CR was that it's a highly concentrated normie audience
so episode discussions were good
because 80-90% of people concede that the player still sucks and pirate sites are just better
I know we've theorycrafted what they could do to edge out being useful enough to not pirate
native links to the major western anime database sites, making sure they have literally everything (specials, random twitter shorts, etc)
there are things they could do
I've thought about this in the past, and I think there are things they could do to court the anime autist audience
but at this point so may independent sites do a good-enough job of what CR could do, they'd have no margin for error
Yeah, thats the thing, they would skip the shit I'd actually want from them
I have so many random twitter shorts on my plan to watch that have no subs
the core issue is back to the general streaming problem in the West
they won't have everything seasonally
this season they have 49/60 shows (deregarding the shows not getting subbed)
so ~80%
The real problem is 90% of people who watch anime need 2-3 shows a season at most
we are outliars
So there is no profit margin in getting a lot of them
it's funny how it's reversed in the West
in Japan, you are catering to a couple thousand niche retards
in America, you're hoping that enough normies subscribe and forget to unsub from your service they don't use
The platform that has jjk, one piece, demon slayer, etc you have cornered enough of the western market that it is debatable if adding more niche shows are even worth it
I would love the actual stats though, for seasonal shit
and the people who like those shows do not care that the site hosting them is bad
what % of people even watch seasonally at this point
it has gone up/down over time
Yeah that would be interesting to know
The database sites can't give that info because only tryhards use those
