Also apparently toushin toshi 3 is the worst alicesoft game ever according to at least 2 different comments i read online

These guys literally ported a game from like 1988 that was on the MSX to modern windows just so they could translate it
And the only reason they even did that was because that game happened to have a character that was later re-used in a spinoff where rance is a grader schooler
No, rance is the one of the 2 first games alicesoft produced
If it was connected it would be after from what I have played
But I don't know how much the later rance games could expand into it
I'd say them actually being a "shared universe" is more just comedic references, and it's more like they just reused the same concepts
But us at the Phijkchu Rance Bookclub are waiting for Rance 03 to come out before we go through the rest of the series, so we don't have the full picture

Toushin Toshi II has really good art.
Toushin Toshi I has some too but more in a charming old school kind of way for the most part.
And then there are some that are cleary where they had to have a programmer or something handle one to save time

Anyways, I have it on good authority that the manga is not better
(it never is, if the anime is bad, it is usually a systemic issue not an adaptation issue)
It isn't funny enough to be a comedy and the characters aren't interesting enough to be a drama. The world isn't interesting enough for an adventure manga and they dont focus enought on food for it to be a culinary manga. I don't know what it wanted to be. I dropped it around the chimera which is near the end because I got too bored with it. So unless it improved past that. I think it is not good.
