did you ever watch the original Bartender?
My expectation is that the slow burn comfy atmosphere will not work as well in a modern format
and there are other shows; inspired by the original, that try to nail that atmosphere from different angles
Not counting metalic rogue ending, my next show is slime on friday
6 hours remain
I think it's going to $100/year, but not till the end of the year??
idk, since it doesn't effect me I haven't really been tracking how much they're fucking over normies
yeah, $100-$150/year depenidng on your plan starts in Jan 2025
I think that's more than double what it was before
wasn't it $39.99/year?
I remember it being around 2x a hike
Actually hilarious
I mean, I feel the same way about Netflix
I couldn't conceive of paying more than $100/year for a TV channel
CR doesn't have a in-built watchtogether thing do they?
that might accidentally add too much value
CR's site, player, apps, etc. were always barely functional from what I remember and how people talk about it
oh, in-person
icic
I thought you meant they had a watch party feature thing
or there was some 3rd party app that did watch-togethers
Of course not Spooky, that would imply they put any more than the bare minimum into their product
CR does not do that
that's what I assumed Pika, just had to be sure
High Guardian Spice
beat me to it Leg
For what it is worth, I did enjoy us watching HGS
we watched all of it if you count skpping from episode 2 to the last episode all of it
we made it through 4 whole episodes
HGS was not the worst thing we have ever watched
Replying to Phijkchu_Pikachu #klombak we watched all of it if you count skpping from episode 2 to the last episode all of it
I'm sure if you didn't skip it would've soured your opinion further
Discords feels half-baked
Discord has the benifit of having monopolized internet communities from every other platform, so even if they release something half baked it is still a feature
CR is competing with piracy
which is always better
Anime piracy especially
the most autistic dedicated people on the planet
Steam is the only online distributor that I think adds enough value that most people will not pirate
well, and a lot of people like spotify
music streaming hasn't crashed yet
it's a fine line
because musicians are making NOTHING anymore
anime streaming has never been good, and has never tried to be good, so it is always better to just pirate it
either from 9anime or torrenting
I had boomers at work talking about pirating today
because someone recommended an Apple+ show
Watch 2 gether
btw polar, 9anime has a watch 2 gether feature which is hilarious
the random piracy site has a better feature set then CR
(it's alright)
it's the same watchtogether feature that Emby/Plex implemented, which is cool, open source reuse
but it's not perfect
Replying to Phijkchu_Pikachu #klombak the random piracy site has a better feature set then CR
Huh. I've been watching stuff on 9anime for a bit now and never knew.
Simulcast is not a valid enough feature to beat piracy, because the torrents just steal those and reupload them right away
you need to add features beyond the content you host
at the very least, make your catalogue super convinient to do things with
at a bare minimum, you need a complete catalogue
then you add social features on-top of that, livechat simulcast, private watchtogethers,
app support everywhere, integration with all the major index/database sites
lean into providing high quality streaming of other franchise media too (that currently get very little attention)
and SELL LISCENSED MERCHANDISE, that is the most lucrative shit imaginable for zero effort
Honestly, if CR commited to translating all the random twitter and web shorts that shows get that never get translations
that alone would give them some credibility
