there was a comic that evolved into that format
It makes the most sense if you want to do text dumps
since manga is not suited for it
I also credit anime with having to make a series immediately engaging, in a way that novels/manga don't always do
It's part of the larger rewrites they do to fit the format
Bad shows don't nail that part, but it's why I think I also prefer anime over LNs in general
