Anyways I think Frieren can possibly stay at number 1 on mal, but it depends how time goes for that
It is the right kind of broad appeal show that is well done to dethrone FMAB
So it does make sense, but only if you understand how scoring works
Sequels get an inherent boost because the people that hate it did not get to the sequel
long things get an inherent boost, because you need to watch more than 10% of a show for your score to count
so for one piece, you must watch 120+ episodes
before your score matters
frieren is not long enough to really benifit
I am mostly talking about 50, but realistically 100+ episode entries
where you have to watch essentially a full show worth of episodes in order to score it and have your score count
I feel like final seasons also get a boost

the only time seasons do not get a boost is if the season is actually worse in very noticable ways
like shield hero season 2 is like 1.5-2 points below season 1

yeah, you have to actually fuck up. If you have the exact same quality, you usually have a 0.1-0.3 higher score than season 1
and finales if they nail the landing, people tend to vote higher
