I think legitimately, the entire manga's story didn't need to play out. If that was the final message, existence is meaningless and random or w/e, it might have worked better. Instead it's just the same red string of fate that has played out twice in the series already. If you're going to have them end up together, do it in some sort of new way in the end (with her dying). The manga also stopped trying to really say anything at some point, Fastmoon did a really good job so I don't think it's been lost by a bad TL, mangaka just seems to have been on autopilot for the last ~2 years
Anyway, 109 chapters in 13 years, I think this is the longest I've followed an active series other than Soul Eater.
