I think he reversed what worked, he gave every character far too much complexity, and then wanted to tell a very simple (honestly pointless) story with them
Baccano and durrarra had a lot of one-note characters, that got their depth from their relation to other characters
which I guess Dead Play has too sometimes

one of my og series finally ended
Noragami had it's "last" chapter come out
now it's just the final epilogue this month
there were like 3 fakeout endings
but now it's actually over
I mean, FGO is kind of the same rn too
