I don't even think it's doing it that well, it's the kemono friends angle
Where the studio and everyone involved is just having fun, and making all the places they cut corners funny/wholesome
It would be a super mediocre show if they used the budget like a normal studio would
Instead of just yoloing most of the joining scenes
"what if we dressed this character up like a peacock and then broke her arm"
"what if we did a tractor mocap dance number"
I clipped this because it make me chuckle while watching it
@reorruatrnte episode 13 of pani poni was hilarious
towards the end it starts to lose its grip on sanity even more as it goes on iirc
well I look forward to that, because this episode made zero sense, then turned into a mech battle

A bit. I am about 10% into season 4
This is a slow burn project
I think season 4 so far has been a bit better than 3
My initial position that season 1 is peak pokemon writing and execution wise still stands
i think advanced and daipa are going to be better than season 1
After gen 1 anime diamond and pearl is the season I have the most nostalgia for
I owned a lot of season 1 VHS tapes, and DP was on tv before school when I still watched tv before school when I was younger
I have seen zero of it since it was coming out though
ye we also had some season 1 vhs tapes
we recordes all of like advanced and half of DP tho

Whats really funny for season 1 is I had the VHS of the qualifying battles for the kanto league battle, but not the tape after it where he loses

so I never saw the end of the league until like a decade later when I first went through all of the original pokemon

johto season 3 was painful because there was like 30 episodes that started with "they were on their way to goldenrod"
then season 4 starts with them there
which made season 4 much better (so far)!
I am almost done the first checkbox on my stupid spreadsheet
So far the only things I have watched that I have not seen was Pikachu's winter vacation 2000 and the slowking special they did for the second movie that never got dubbed
going forward, I have not seen any of the pikachu shorts
I won't start truly seeing new things until I get half way though advanced where I have not seen most of the episodes
