The 500 pounds has gone to his head
You can make the argument that education should be wholly divorced from the goverment at its core
but beyond that libertarian ideal, the state options should be appealing to parents, moreso than alternatives
The fact that it currently isn't, is depressing
It wouldn't be hard to have a really great school system stood up, but there are a few key problems
1) Building the curriculum
2) Attracting qualified teachers, and enticing parents to send their kids students
3) meeting retarded federal/state requirements
And after those three steps, you're left with really expensive schools, if they succeed, or inefficient schools who have to compromise to continue existing
It's almost like, text is a poor medium for this kind of thing
I think about this a lot, and it's an interest of mine
fixing education
