I'm not sure Rob is putting himself in his fans shoes at all. For as much as he harped about "empathy" I don't think he's actually attempted to see his fans point of views at all. I think there are some things, seriously wrong in Rob's life, and I hope he's ok, and maybe this change will help him. But God, if it doesn't feel like he's out of touch with the people who genuinely like or support him, even if in his mind he disagrees.
