It's so easy to make good kids movies... how do they fuck it up time and time again
It'd make a good kids movie, in the way that all popular kids books are popular despite some questionable content
EVERY good series you read as a kid, had things that would not fit in a PG movie
I remember some spy kid book (I forget the name rn)
where in book 3 he's kidnapped, stripped naked, and then given surgery against his will
Alex Rider series

it's a "doomsday device" usuallly
but the concept is fine
Percy Jackson was my absolute favorite as a kid
got 2 abysmal movies
Rangers Apprentice was going to be a movie, and then a Netfflix show
neither panned out
