mr beast also went around donating 10k to random big streamers telling them to tell their fans to sub to pewdiepie
that might have helped a bit
I wasn't that invested in this at first
But man something about the sub war really caught on with me
it's kind of fun to watch it go back and forth
Maybe this sounds odd, but it reminds me of the first Twitch Plays Pokemon stream
When the whole internet was focused on some normally irrelevant thing
TPP was a different kind of surreal though
I felt like every room with a computer in it on campus had the stream up at least once
but they should have
That odd feeling of internet people being really invested
And normal folks getting involved just by being caught up in the autism
The pewdiepie thing is funny to me, I have had irl conversations about it
which means it has transcended the internet
If I ever see something about the sub war at work, I'll make sure to let you know
Then it'd be about as mainstream as Fortnite or Pokemon go
