i mute and unmute things all the time depending on how much people are talking when i don't want notifications distracting me
that's still a notification
it bothers me
when i see the white bubble, i HAVE to look
so i mute when people are having a long conversation in a channel that i have nothing to do with
to save myself from having to read it all
and then unmute when they're done with the conversation
