Would've made more sense than having the space nazis somehow assemble a planet sized death star in secret, after being utterly defeated

they weren't defeated though, the emperor and his pet just died

i mean the old lore was that it fell apart into smaller warlord type bands fighting eachother or other factions

some made peace with the republic

or at least neutrality
