i think my definition of a remake is new assets and perhaps code to replace old ones. A port has to take something else, old things, move it to something else. An enhanced port has to take something else, old things, move it to something else, add a few more things and call it a day.

FE8 is not an enhanced port, because while old parts were reused, the main focus, or one of them was significantly changed.

Where things get hazy are when you have a remake disguised as a port Like Hat in Time or Rocket League for Switch

in the GAME

You can consider a game to be modular with different modes

all framed in the base mechanics

and yet the mode has provided people to buy the game

for glory in smash is also just a mode, no more valid than offline smash mode
