You can make the argument that education should be wholly divorced from the goverment at its core but beyond that libertarian ideal, the state options should be appealing to parents, moreso than alternatives

It wouldn't be hard to have a really great school system stood up, but there are a few key problems 1) Building the curriculum 2) Attracting qualified teachers, and enticing parents to send their kids students 3) meeting retarded federal/state requirements
