Thank you for finding this Conour
God, I join and he drew a dick on lincon
good shit
This isn't even part of the meme
this is just a kid in the class
God, is this what Zoom classes are like?
These can't be colleges
these have to be high schools
yeah these are hss
for sure
Also, I feel super out of touch
do 90% of people <18 just default to video on?
But actually, wtf
Do you think it's an NPC thing Bopit?
Are the kind of people who keep their video on Bopit
all kind of the same archetype of a person
My prof requests it
if you have a webcam
but why though?
he likes visual indication if people are confused
Maybe this is a product of me literally growing up in Skype/teamspeak calls
but no one ever used video
even at work, I can't think of a single person who turns on video for teleconferences
in high school, the only people who would ever use video in Skype calls were girls who I'd describe as never really "using" the internet
beyond Facebook/Twitter/reddit or whatever
Leg, imagine they type of person who browses reddit without an account, and only ever filters by "top of all time"
Anyway, I hate kids now
thanks guys, I'm cured
I think there's a line you can draw which divides everyone who "uses the internet" into two camps
and I think it's worrying how small the camp which I came from has gotten over time
Thank God for this Discord
I like untainted kids I guess
I think a better way to explain what I mean is that when people say "think how tech savvy the next generation will be"
I don't agree at all, and think we're raising a tech illiterate generation, using technology
The fact a 2 year old can use an ipad to watch YouTube, doesn't make him tech literate
Or the fact that someone spends 90% of their day on Twitter
And not that I too don't like the mainstream parts of the internet, or want the freedom to say "nigger" wherever I want
more that I just think that so many people only have a surface level appreciation for what we all use, and yet act like that's all there is to it
I'm glad there are some critically aware people out there, but I find that I'm disappointed how few there actually are
when if you had asked me 10 years ago, I would have been bullish about the posibilities that will come from having a generation raised online
